Point Reyes Farmstead Cheese Company practices rotational grazing across its 710 acres, moving the herd to promote diverse plant growth and carbon sequestration in the soil. Pastures are planted using no-till drilling for erosion control, and the farm maintains a regenerative grazing program. A methane digester and solar installations at both the Point Reyes and Petaluma facilities together remove approximately 550,000 pounds of CO2 annually. Water from creamery sanitation runs through a closed-loop wash system on the dairy floor, recycling multiple times before leaving the property. The farm uses robotic milking technology, which the business states reduces herd stress and provides real-time health data on individual animals. Original Blue is produced at the creamery on the Point Reyes farm; other cheeses are made at a second facility in Petaluma, Sonoma County. The business carries the Real California Milk seal.
