Non-profit stone mill growing and milling heirloom wheat flour, with bread, cookies, and CSA flour shares.
Honore Farm and Mill is a non-profit stone mill based in Marin County that grows and sources heirloom grain varietals including Sonora, Red Fife, Hollis, Seashore Black Rye, Hourani, Jaljuli, and Karun. A stone mill converts these grains into whole grain flour sold for home and wholesale use. The shop also offers sourdough starter, baked bread, shortbread cookies, flour bundles, and CSA flour share programs. All proceeds from sales support the organization's farming and educational work. The business takes its name from St. Honoré, the 7th-century patron saint of bakers and flour merchants, reflecting its focus on restoring the place of whole-grain bread in everyday life. Honore Farm and Mill farms heirloom grain varietals using regenerative organic practices, without pesticides, chemical fertilizers, or irrigation. Stone milling preserves the whole grain, retaining the bran and germ that industrial roller milling removes. The business also propagates rare heritage varieties including Hourani, Jaljuli, and Karun alongside more widely known heirloom wheats. Its broader mission centers on transforming food and farm systems through the cultivation of heritage grains, and it describes a long-term vision of establishing a care farm where farmers, educators, artists, and learners work alongside one another.
