Family farm beef: grass-fed Angus raised by the whole, half, quarter, or individual cut.
Pleasant Pastures Beef is a small family farm in Northwest Iowa, run by Luke and Nancy Wielenga, raising predominantly Angus cattle on pasture south of Hull. The farm sells beef in whole, half, and quarter carcass shares, as well as individual cuts including steaks, roasts, ground beef, hamburger patties, beef liver, soup bones, and dried beef. Cattle are born and raised on the farm and processed at local licensed and inspected lockers. Customers can pick up directly from the farm or arrange delivery to several nearby communities. Pleasant Pastures Beef raises its cattle on a grass and non-GMO forage-based diet throughout their lives, including the finishing phase. Calves graze pasture alongside their mothers during the grazing season and are finished on a diet that includes non-GMO alfalfa hay, non-GMO corn, non-GMO fermented forages, and organic molasses. No antibiotics are added to feed or water, and no hormone implants are used. The farm does not feed soybean meal or ethanol byproducts to its cattle. The Wielengas describe their approach as regenerative, using more natural and organic products and practices in the care of their land, crops, and cattle.
