Patchwork City Farms is a 3.75-acre independently owned urban farm spread across multiple lots in Atlanta, founded in 2010 by Jamila Norman, known as Farmer J. Norman is a University of Georgia Environmental Engineering graduate, internationally recognized urban farmer, and food activist whose family roots are in Caribbean agriculture. The farm grows seasonal vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers, sold through a weekly on-farm shop and several Atlanta-area farmers markets. It also participates in the Georgia Fresh for Less program, allowing shoppers using EBT to double their dollars. Patchwork City Farms is a founding member of the South West Atlanta Growers Cooperative (SWAG Coop), a cooperative centered on Black urban farmers in Atlanta.
Patchwork City Farms holds Certified Naturally Grown status and does not use chemical fertilizers, pesticides, or herbicides. The farm's weekly on-farm shop carries its own fresh produce alongside farm-made products, local fruits, mushrooms, pastured eggs, dried herbs, teas, and bath and body products. Farmer J co-founded and manages the South West Atlanta Growers Cooperative (SWAG Coop), and serves on the board of Georgia Organics, a nonprofit connecting organic food from Georgia farms to Georgia families.
