Mud Creek Farm is a family-run farm located in the Mud Creek Valley of Indianapolis, founded by Nick and Kendra Carter after moving onto their property in November 2018. The farm operates a solar-powered, honor-system farm stand stocked with farm-fresh eggs and seasonal produce including tomatoes, peppers, and lettuce. Beyond the farm stand, Mud Creek Farm offers meat shares of beef, pork, and lamb sold direct from farm to freezer. The farm has raised small livestock in Indianapolis since 2018, and the Carter family has farmed in Indiana for four generations. A sister operation, Honey Creek Farm, located 45 minutes north of Indianapolis, raises livestock that cannot be kept within city limits. Learn more on their About Page.
Mud Creek Farm raises cattle on rotating pastures and describes its beef as grass-fed. Hogs are raised with what the farm describes as a healthy balance of forage and feed, and pork shares are sold as pasture-raised. Lambs are also raised on rotating pastures. All herd shares are sold on rail weight (also called hanging weight). The Indianapolis farm stand runs on solar power and operates on an honor system, with payment accepted via Venmo, PayPal, or cash.
