Grass-fed, pasture-raised meat and eggs from California family farms, with an on-site butcher shop and USDA-inspected processing.
Marin Sun Farms is a vertically integrated meat company founded in 1999 by David Evans, rooted in his upbringing on a family cattle ranch in the Point Reyes National Seashore. The company sources beef, lamb, goat, pork, veal, poultry, and specialty meats from California family farms that share its values, and operates its own USDA-inspected slaughterhouse and butcher shop. Marin Sun Farms runs the last remaining USDA-inspected slaughterhouse in the San Francisco Bay Area, which it describes as critical infrastructure for the long-term viability of local livestock production. Meat and eggs are available through wholesale accounts, a butcher shop, and an animal share program. Learn more on their About Page.
All meat is sourced from the California foodshed, and Marin Sun Farms works exclusively with local family farms raising livestock to its protocol. Its priorities are grass-fed, pasture-raised, and local sourcing, and no antibiotics or hormones are used in its meat or eggs. Pork is heritage breed and non-GMO. The slaughterhouse facility is USDA Certified Organic (certified by Marin Organic Certified Agriculture) and Animal Welfare Approved. Livestock are raised, handled, and processed using low-stress, humane practices. The butcher shop practices whole-animal butchery, using every part from nose to tail. Byproducts such as tallow are directed into uses including soap, fertilizers, and biofuels. The business operates its own direct distribution, delivering to wholesale customers across California.
