80-acre North Florida family farm raising grass-fed beef, pasture-raised pork, chicken, eggs, and produce.
Longleaf Pasture Farm is an 80-acre family farm in North Florida, started as a longleaf pine plantation and expanded over time using the silvopasture technique. It is owned and operated by Chris and Deanna Mericle, who raise cattle, hogs, chickens, and laying hens alongside a produce garden. The farm sells its products as individual cuts, bundle boxes (priced 10-15% below individual items), and shares, with deposits accepted to reserve shares ahead of scheduled butcher dates. Products are available to order online for pickup. Over half of the farm's acreage is maintained as wildlife habitat, providing space for species including gopher tortoises, Sherman's fox squirrels, white-tailed deer, and wild turkeys. Longleaf Pasture Farm's cattle are 100% grass-fed. Hogs are forest-raised, rooting and foraging in the woods, with their diet supplemented by premium non-GMO verified feed. Chickens are raised on pasture with access to grass and bugs, and laying hens roost in a mobile coop at night before returning to pasture during the day; both flocks receive non-GMO feed. No hormones, steroids, or antibiotics are used on any animals. The farm uses rotational grazing and no chemical fertilizers or herbicides. Produce is grown in compost made with the farm's own cattle and chickens, with no chemical fertilizers or pesticides. The farm describes its approach as regenerative, with animals actively contributing to soil health. Conservation practices support aquifer recharge and carbon capture on the property.
