A 70-acre silvopasture farm raising grass-fed Dexter beef, pastured Kunekune pork, Freedom Ranger chickens, eggs, heritage turkeys, and guineas.
Bernal Homestead is a 70-acre silvopasture ranch in the Suwannee Valley, specializing in all-natural, clean meats and regenerative holistic farming. The farm raises grass-fed Dexter beef, KuneKune pork, Freedom Ranger chickens, heritage turkeys, guinea fowl, and pasture-raised eggs. It breeds and hatches its own chickens and turkeys on-site, and also raises surplus roosters as stew birds. The farm began on a smaller property and expanded to its current acreage after outgrowing the original land. Bernal Homestead participates in the Follow Fresh from Florida program and offers a farm stay for visitors. Learn more on their About Page.
Bernal Homestead operates on a regenerative, holistic model centered on soil and pasture health. The farm preserves rich, mineral-dense soil by leaving native plants intact, rotating grazing animals at varying times, and preventing overgrazing. Fertilizer is used only on specific fruit trees as needed, and the farm makes its own hay when grass outpaces what the animals can consume. Dexter cattle eat grass from birth to harvest, with no supplemental feed. KuneKune pigs forage on pasture, acorns, pecans, nettles, and greenbrier, with their diet supplemented by organic, no-soy, no-GMO feed. Chickens and turkeys are raised on pasture and fed no-soy, no-GMO organic feed. The farm uses no GMOs, no soy, no mRNA treatments, and no Bovaer across its livestock. Animals are bred naturally to maintain genetic health.
