Jupiter Ridge Farm (Jupiter Ridge LLC) grows gourmet mushrooms, herbs, and vegetables on a 1,200-foot ridge in the Driftless region of northeastern Iowa. The farm's land was donated to the Sustainable Iowa Land Trust (SILT), and is stewarded by resident farmers with a focus on sustainable food production. Mushroom varieties include shiitake, oysters, and lion's mane. The farm sells to restaurants, breweries, wineries, cafes, wholesalers, and food hubs across the region, and offers an online shop with pre-order, delivery, and shipping of select products. Jupiter Ridge also donates surplus produce to nonprofits including Feed Iowa First and works with the Iowa Food Hub to reach local food pantries.
Jupiter Ridge Farm is Certified Naturally Grown (CNG). Gourmet mushrooms are grown on hardwood logs that are ethically and locally sourced using sustainable forestry practices. Vegetables are produced using regenerative and environmentally responsible methods, including soil building, cover cropping, crop rotation, compost amending, and all-natural fertilizers. The farm limits pesticide use to all-natural, plant-based, non-harmful curatives consistent with those permitted under USDA organic certification, and applies them only in rare instances.
