Family-run pasture-based farm offering pastured meats, eggs, raw honey, grass-fed beef, and A2A2 raw dairy.
Honeysuckle Farm is a family-owned, small-scale, pasture-based farm operated by Joe and Rachael, who launched the venture in 2012 with their first laying flock and established the farm name in 2015 after purchasing adjoining acreage. Joe holds Purdue University degrees in Agricultural Systems Management and Agronomy. The farm raises pastured chicken and turkey, pastured pork, 100% grass-fed beef, and laying hens, and also produces raw honey and A2A2 raw dairy. Honeysuckle Farm uses organic and regenerative agriculture methods across its operation. Laying hens are truly free-range with unlimited access to forage and insects during warm months, supplemented with a free-choice, locally milled, non-GMO grain ration. Cornish Cross broilers are raised on pasture within rotational electrified netting for predator protection, with the entire setup moved regularly to fresh ground. The pig herd consists of Berkshire boars and Duroc sows; piglets are born on pasture rather than in farrowing crates and are naturally weaned. Pigs are rotated to fresh pasture periodically throughout the growing season. Retail pork is processed at Bittner's Eureka Locker, described by the farm as the only certified organic butcher in Illinois. The farm's ten beehives are managed without chemical treatments, and bees are overwintered on their own honey stores to minimize the need for supplemental feeding.
