Butcher & Ice Cream Shop
Closed
Family-farm butcher shop and ice cream shop selling locally raised beef, pork, chicken, and turkey alongside Wisconsin-made ice cream.
Homegrown Meat Company & Ice Cream Shop was founded in 2020 when two local families joined forces to bring farm-raised meats directly to consumers. The shop carries beef, pork, chicken, and turkey, all available by the whole, half, quarter, or individual cut, as well as Wisconsin-made ice cream served in cups, cones, sundaes, shakes, and hand-packed pints. Milk and dairy products sourced from local family farms are also on offer. Seasonal fresh turkeys are available for pre-order during the holiday period. The business aims to connect shoppers directly with the farms that raise their food. Learn more on their About Page.
Homegrown Meat Company & Ice Cream Shop raises its beef on a diet of grass, grain, alfalfa, hay, and wheat straw, with no hormones or growth implants. Cattle are grown over 18 to 24 months, then dry-aged for approximately 25 days before being hand-cut to order; extended dry-aging is available on request. The business reports that its beef consistently grades High Choice or Prime. Pork is raised on a diet of grains, vegetables, and forage, with no hormones or growth additives, and is hand-cut to order into chops, roasts, ribs, ground pork, hams, and bacon. Chickens are described as raised in a low-stress environment with access to forage, fed grains and natural forage, and given no hormones, antibiotics, or growth enhancers. Turkeys are raised with access to fresh air and natural forage, with no hormones, antibiotics, or growth stimulants, and are available whole or in custom cuts.
