Family-owned vanilla farm growing estate vanilla beans, extract, and vanilla-infused culinary products on Hawaii Island since 1998.
Hawaiian Vanilla Company is a family-owned vanilla farm on the Hamakua Coast of Hawaii Island, established in 1998 by Jim Reddekopp and now led by his son Ian. The business describes itself as the first commercial vanilla grower in the United States. It produces vanilla extract, whole vanilla beans, and estate-grown vanilla coffee, alongside a range of culinary products including dressings, chutneys, spice rubs, baking mixes, and vanilla sugars, as well as vanilla-infused beauty products. Visitors can book guided farm tours, a vanilla luncheon tour, a culinary tasting tour, or an Upcountry Vanilla Tea experience at the farm. Learn more on their About Page.
Hawaiian Vanilla Company grows its vanilla on its own estate on the Hamakua Coast, referring to the growing area as a vanilla vineyard. The business describes itself as premium and ethical. Ian Reddekopp has conducted research into vanilla cultivation at its origins in Mexico, in Micronesia, in Haiti, and at Rutgers University, with the stated goal of cultivating the highest-quality vanilla possible. The farm also offers an Adopt-A-Vanilla Vine program, allowing supporters to become field founders tied to a specific vine on the property. Estate-grown Hawaiian vanilla coffee is among the products the farm produces directly from its own land.
