Overview
Vegetable and cut flower CSA farm growing produce and seasonal bouquets without synthetic chemicals or pesticides.
Harvest & Blooms Farm grew out of the union of Veenstra's Vegetables and a focus on growing flowers and designing floral arrangements. The farm offers both a vegetable CSA and a Flower Share program, through which members purchase shares of seasonal produce and locally grown bouquets. The Flower Share is available in 10-, 15-, and 20-week options, featuring more than 60 varieties of flowers grown on the farm each season. Vegetable CSA members receive a weekly share of produce and may also participate in farm projects. Products are available for pickup at the Old Capitol Farmer's Market in Springfield and at select local retail locations. Harvest & Blooms also offers wholesale flowers to buyers. Harvest & Blooms Farm produces its flowers and vegetables without the use of synthetic chemicals or pesticides. The farm describes its approach as creating a balance that fosters the farm as a whole, living organism. It has been committed to organic farming and sustainable practices since it began farming its land in 2006. The farm is a member of Buy Fresh Buy Local (Central Illinois Chapter), the Illinois Stewardship Alliance, and the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers, and supports organizations including The Land Connection, Slow Flowers, and the Slow Food Springfield IL Chapter.
