Fourth-generation family farm raising 100% grass-fed beef and pasture-raised pork in southern Indiana.
Gogel Pastures is a small family farm on land that has been in the Gogel family for four generations. Teagon Gogel, a former Air Force EOD technician, took over his grandfather's farm in 2022 and began raising grass-fed beef, then added pasture-raised pork shortly after. The farm also raises lamb. Gogel Pastures sells directly to consumers, offering beef and pork cuts through its online store with shipping or pickup options. The farm's stated focus is full transparency about how its animals are raised, and nothing is raised on the farm that the family does not also eat. Learn more on their About Page.
All animals at Gogel Pastures are kept on pasture and rotated regularly. Beef and lamb receive a 100% forage diet and are moved to fresh pasture once a day. Hogs are rotated weekly and are also fed grain, as the farm notes they cannot sustain on grass alone. In winter, cattle are supplemented with hay unrolled directly onto pasture, which spreads manure and uneaten hay to lower-fertility areas; that material breaks down in spring to build soil and support microbial life. Sheep graze stockpiled forage through most of the winter with little need for hay. Hogs spend the colder months in an open-sided barn using a deep-bedding method: fresh bedding is layered on top of old bedding every few days, generating heat through composting and producing compost for summer pasture application. The farm raises all animals without steroids or hormones and uses antibiotics only when medically necessary, not as a routine practice. No herbicides or pesticides are used on the land.
