Glaum Egg Ranch is a fourth-generation family farm with roots going back to the early 1920s, now rooted in Aptos, CA. The ranch produces cage-free and USDA Organic eggs, delivering to over 500 restaurants, bakeries, and grocery stores across the Santa Cruz and Monterey Bay region. Eggs are available in cage-free large and extra-large white, and organic cage-free large and extra-large brown. The farm operates a barn store on-site, where shoppers can pick up fresh eggs alongside a selection of local grocery items, gifts, and apparel. The property is home to its well-known egg vending machine, an invention of the Glaum family that dispenses eggs around the clock and features a seasonal animated chicken display. Glaum Egg Ranch holds USDA Organic certification through the National Organic Program and Certified Humane certification for farm animal care, a distinction the ranch states made it the first egg ranch in California to receive that honor. Cage-free hens are raised without hormones, antibiotics, steroids, or animal by-products, and are fed an all-natural vegetarian diet. Organic hens receive certified organic, non-GMO feed that meets the same exclusions. Hen houses use automated systems to deliver feed and water directly to the birds and to carry manure to an on-site compost facility. The farm runs entirely on solar power, using on-site panels to support all farming operations. Wastewater is also reused as part of the ranch's sustainability practices.
