Family farm growing ancient grains, hay, produce, and pasture-raised beef in Sugar City, Idaho.
Food Dudes is a multi-generational family farm in Sugar City, Idaho, that has been farming since 2003. The farm grows ancient grains including spelt, khorasan, hard white wheat, and hard red wheat, selling them as whole berries and flour. It also runs a seasonal fruit stand offering sweet corn, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, squash, pumpkins, peas, beans, beets, and sourced fruit from other Idaho regions. Food Dudes raises beef cattle and pigs, selling whole animals to families for freezer stock. The farm also grows several varieties of hay (alfalfa, grass, and pea-and-oat mix) and Russet Burbank potatoes. Products can be purchased at the farm stand, at local farmers markets, or ordered online. Learn more on their About Page.
Food Dudes grows its grains using regenerative soil practices, including conscientious soil testing aimed at improving soil health. All grains are non-GMO, and the farm states its khorasan is third-party tested with no glyphosate and no pesticides detected. Grains are planted, grown, cleaned, packaged, and shipped directly from the farm with full traceability from field to kitchen. The farm finishes its beef cattle with farm-grown peas rather than hormones. Alfalfa hay is baled at night with the dew to preserve leaf nutrition, and the farm has experimented with high-moisture haylage as an alternative feed.
