Regenerative farm raising grass-finished beef, pastured chicken, forest-raised pork, and pasture-raised eggs.
Five Mile Farms is a regenerative agriculture farm in LaCygne, Kansas, raising 100% grass-fed, grass-finished beef, non-GMO pastured chicken, non-GMO forest-raised pork, and pasture-raised eggs. The farm was founded by Ileana and her husband after a desire to understand and control the source of their family's food led them to transition away from conventional agriculture. Products are available through the farm's online store, with home and office delivery options, and at the Overland Park Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. The farm also hosts tours, giving customers a firsthand look at how the land and animals are managed. Learn more on their About Page.
Five Mile Farms operates under regenerative agriculture principles, focusing on rebuilding soil, working with carbon, water, and nutrient cycles, and increasing the land's long-term productivity. Cattle are raised on pasture year-round and are moved regularly in an intensive rotational system designed to maximize their positive impact on the land. Poultry are raised in open-bottom movable shelters wrapped in chicken wire and greenhouse plastic, allowing the birds to access fresh pasture while staying protected from predators and weather. Both the pork and poultry lines are raised without GMOs. The farm's broader goal is carbon sequestration and ecosystem restoration through its livestock management methods.
