Edelen Farms

Edelen Farms raises its grass-fed cattle without hormones, antibiotics, or pesticides of any kind, and the animals are never confined to a feedlot. The herd is managed through daily rotational grazing, a technique the farm describes as harnessing the natural herbivore behaviors of mobbing, moving, and mowing to build healthier soil, thicker grasses, fewer weeds, and higher organic matter over time. Pastured broilers and seasonal turkeys are housed in floorless chicken shelters that are moved daily, giving the birds fresh grass and dirt while allowing the farm to direct where fertilization occurs. Egg-laying hens are on pasture at all times with no confinement, free to roam the fields, and their housing is moved every few days. The farm describes its overall approach as holistic and regenerative, using animals as tools to improve the land.
