Pasture-raised beef, pork, and chicken from a small diversified farm serving the Berkshires since 1984.
East Mountain Farm is a small, diversified working farm that has been raising and selling pasture-raised beef, pork, and chicken to local families since 1984. Founded by owner Kim Wells, who purchased the land in 1982 and began selling meat in 1987, the farm operates year-round. Products are available at the on-farm store as well as at the Williamstown Farmers Market on Saturdays during the warmer months, with monthly markets through the winter. The farm supplies several regional restaurants, including Mezze Restaurant and Bluebird. Cuts range from steaks and roasts to sausages, kielbasa, bacon, and ground beef.
Beef cattle at East Mountain Farm are rotated onto fresh pasture on a regular basis, where they graze on high-energy grass. To finish, pasture grass and hay are supplemented with a limited quantity of grain. Pigs are raised in the woods surrounding the pastures on a diet of locally produced grain, whey, and forage they root from the forest floor. Chickens are on grass from day one and have continuous access to grass, sunlight, bugs, and soil throughout their lives.
