Family-owned Jersey cow dairy offering pasture-raised whole milk in white and chocolate varieties.
Dandy Breeze Creamery is a family-owned and operated dairy farm run by Tom and Sally Waitt, both graduates of Purdue University in Farm and Agricultural Science. The Waitt family has been milking cows for over 30 years, and launched the creamery in the summer of 2017 after more than a decade of planning. The farm milks a herd of around 85 Jersey cows, a breed long prized for its milk and butter production. Dandy Breeze bottles its milk with a single ingredient: milk. Products are available in half-gallon and 12-ounce sizes, in both white and chocolate, and can be picked up directly at the creamery on scheduled dates. Learn more on their About Page.
Dandy Breeze Creamery is a pasture-based dairy. The Jersey herd is kept in the pasture year-round, or as long as Indiana weather permits. In summer, the cows feed on alfalfa. In fall, the farm wet-wraps alfalfa so the herd has access to fresh pasture feed through winter, a process the farm notes originated in Ireland to preserve nutrients and protein in the feed. All products come from the farm's pasture-raised Jersey cows.
