Diversified family farm offering vegetables, pasture-raised meat, eggs, fruit, grains, and greenhouse plants via farm stand and farmers markets.
Crabapple Farm is a diversified family farm rooted in principles of ecological stewardship, run by Tevis and Rachel Robertson-Goldberg and Sally and Bill Stites-Robertson. The farm grows more than fifty types of vegetables, including many heirloom varieties, and saves its own seed from several crops with a focus on developing varieties suited to its land. It also produces beef, lamb, and pasture-raised eggs, along with fruits such as apples, pears, strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries. Heritage wheat, dry beans, and other staple crops round out its offerings, as do greenhouse plants including vegetable starts, culinary and medicinal herbs, and flowers. Products are available through a self-service farm stand, a seasonal CSA, and appearances at farmers markets in the region.
Crabapple Farm describes its approach as a biologically based farming system that avoids the use of synthetics and toxins, drawing on organic, biodynamic, permaculture, and traditional farming principles. Livestock are managed in rotational grazing on pasture, with no antibiotics or hormones used. Beef and lamb are slaughtered at a small, family-run, USDA-inspected facility. Eggs are laid by free-ranging hens with access to pasture, sunlight, and organic grain. The farm saves and selectively breeds its own seed to develop varieties that thrive in its local growing conditions.
