Fourth-generation Colorado cattle ranch raising pasture-raised, corn-finished Red Angus beef
Christensen Ranch is a fourth-generation family cattle operation in Weldon Valley, farming and ranching on the same land since founder Edward Christensen arrived in 1923. The ranch was designated a Colorado Centennial Ranch in recognition of its 100-year history. It raises Red Angus cattle, a breed selected for tenderness, marbling, and consistent sizing, and sells beef in a range of formats: curated beef boxes, custom bulk beef shares (eighth, quarter, half, and whole), beef snacks, tallow products, and pet food. The ranch also produces beef breakfast sausage and a variety of specialty cuts including dry-aged patties, brisket, short ribs, and organ meats. Learn more on their About Page.
Christensen Ranch raises its Red Angus herd on the open plains of Northeastern Colorado for up to 18 months before finishing the cattle on a corn-based diet in its own on-ranch feedlot. The ranch does not use growth-promoting hormones at any stage. Antibiotics are used only on a limited, as-needed basis under veterinary direction, and any treated animal is withheld from the food chain until the full recommended withdrawal period has passed. The ranch provides open grazing, freedom of movement, continuous access to fresh water and fresh air, and shelter during inclement weather. Christensen Ranch is a member of the Red Angus Association and a Colorado Proud participant, and holds a Red Angus Grid Master Award.
