Three-generation family farm growing organic avocados, citrus, figs, and asparagus in the Hayward Hills.
Chetwyn Farm is a small, three-generation family operation that began farming its property in 2010, after finding it abandoned. The farm grows avocados (with over 450 trees planted), citrus, asparagus, and figs, along with other fruit trees, vegetables, and a herd of goats. Products are sold at farmers markets, with a market schedule published on the farm's website. Chetwyn Farm donates 10% of every sale to Agros International, an organization that works to break the cycle of poverty for rural families in Central America by providing land, agricultural training, and financial education. Learn more on their About Page.
Chetwyn Farm holds USDA Organic certification and is also certified by the Real Organic Project, an add-on certification that verifies crops are grown in soil and animals are raised on pasture, with an emphasis on soil health and animal welfare. The farm uses mulching, composting, and organic fertilizer to support its crops while preserving native wildlife. Its stated goal is to operate as a self-sustaining ecosystem in harmony with the land.
