Farmer-first cooperative grocery offering local organic produce, pastured meats, dairy, farm shares, and raw milk pickup.
Central City Co-Op is Houston's oldest organic food co-op, operating since 1998 and open to the public six days a week in the Houston Heights. It stocks local organic and sustainable produce, pastured meats from regional ranchers, dairy, eggs, bakery items, bulk foods, and pantry staples. Weekly farm shares are available by pre-order, letting shoppers receive a seasonal mix of local organic produce. Raw cow and goat milk is available for pickup by co-op members. Membership is optional for shopping but supports the co-op's mission and provides benefits such as discounts on farm shares and member specials. Everything the co-op earns is reinvested back into the organization. Learn more on their About Page.
Central City Co-Op works exclusively with local farmers, ranchers, and makers that focus on organic and sustainable production methods. Farm shares are sourced from these local farmer partners and reflect seasonal availability. Pastured meats come from regional ranchers the co-op works with directly. Raw milk pickup is offered through two named farm partners: The Jersey Barnyard (cow milk) and Dapper Goat Dairy (goat milk). The co-op's sourcing model is built around direct, long-standing relationships with growers, some of which date back to the co-op's earliest years.
