Seasonal farm yogurt and raw milk from grass-fed Jersey cows in Peterborough, NH
Callie's Creamery is a small family farm in Peterborough, New Hampshire, named in memory of Callie Hulbert, the farmers' daughter who grew up helping in the barn. Shelley and Robin began farming in 1999 with a single Jersey cow. The creamery produces whole-milk yogurt and raw milk on a seasonal basis, running from September through early spring. Yogurt is made in an on-site micro-dairy using only whole milk and live cultures, with no added ingredients. Milk is poured into a vat rather than pumped through a pipeline, a step the farm says results in less bruising and more flavor. Yogurt and raw milk are available directly at the farm and at the Peterborough Farmer's Market. Learn more on their About Page.
Callie's Creamery feeds its Jersey cows an exclusively grass-based diet: fresh pasture in the growing season and hay in winter. The farm states it never uses toxic pesticides, chemical fertilizers, hormones, antibiotics, or GMOs. The yogurt, animals, and fields hold organic certification. Biodynamic farming is a central part of the operation: the farm follows the biodynamic planting calendar and makes and applies biodynamic preparations on its fields. The farm also produces and sells biodynamic preparations for other growers through a related venture.
