Diversified farm offering pastured meats, grassfed beef, sustainably grown vegetables, eggs, and a year-round CSA.
Brasen Hill Farm is a 244-acre diversified farm in Barrington, New Hampshire, founded in 2013 and operated on 35 acres of active fields and pasture. It produces sustainably grown vegetables, pasture-raised pork, poultry, rabbit, and eggs, as well as grassfed beef, lamb, and goat. The farm sells through an online farm stand, on-farm pickup, and home delivery to select Seacoast-area towns. A year-round CSA offers three tiers of membership with discounted pricing on vegetables and meat, monthly billing, and no long-term commitment. The property has been farmed since 1719 and is held under a conservation easement that keeps it in agricultural use permanently. Learn more on their About Page.
Brasen Hill Farm uses intensive crop rotation, cover crops, and composted animal manure to build soil fertility rather than relying on synthetic inputs or spraying. Heirloom vegetable varieties are grown where possible to support food diversity. Pigs roam the farm's woodlot and pasture; sheep and goats are fed exclusively grass and moved to fresh pasture on a rotating schedule. Chickens are raised in mobile coops called chicken tractors, giving them access to pasture and fresh air while protecting them from predators. The farm states that its goal is to improve the land each year and leave it in better condition than when farming began. Conservation land on the property is managed with the NRCS for wildlife habitat, including a dedicated area for the New England Cottontail Rabbit.
