Four-generation country store making smoked sausage, grits, and cracklings since 1910.
Bradley's Country Store traces its roots to 1910, when Grandma Mary Bradley began selling sausage from her kitchen. The store building has stood since 1927 and has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since April 1984. Now run by the 3rd and 4th generations of the Bradley family, the store's core products are country smoked sausage, fresh sausage, hogshead cheese, cracklings, coarse-ground country milled grits, and cornmeal. Bradley's ships its smoked sausage and grits nationwide and hosts an annual Old Fashioned Fun Day event each fall, a tradition running since 1970. Learn more on their About Page.
Bradley's sausage is made from a recipe developed over a century ago by Grandma Mary Bradley, seasoned with black pepper, red pepper, sage, and salt. No preservatives or additives are used. The store sources top-quality hogs from producers it knows and trusts, occasionally supplementing supply with 4-H hogs purchased from regional fairs. Smoked sausage is stuffed into natural casings and hung in a smokehouse to cure using oak and green hickory smoke. Bradley's Country Milled Grits are ground coarse in the same building and by the same method used since the 1920s, with the extra-coarse grind preserving the robust flavor of the corn.
