First-generation family farm raising pasture-raised chicken, woodland pork, and locally sourced beef with a licensed on-farm store.
Bowen Family Farm is a first-generation operation that started in 2016 with a few pigs and laying hens and has grown into a 68-acre farm. It raises, processes, and sells pasture-raised chicken and woodland-raised pork, and also offers grass-fed beef sourced from farms within the region. The farm holds a State of Georgia Poultry Exempt license, allowing it to process its own chickens on-site. Products are available through a self-serve farm store, online ordering with on-farm pickup, and at local farmers markets. Every product in the store is either raised or made by the farm itself, or sourced from within 60 miles of the farm. Learn more on their About Page.
Bowen Family Farm raises its chickens on pasture, moving flocks onto fresh grass using large chicken tractors. The chickens are fed a corn-free, soy-free, non-GMO feed alongside their natural forage, and are raised without antibiotics or vaccines. Pigs roam freely in large wooded paddocks where they can root and forage naturally, and are also raised without antibiotics or vaccines. The farm describes its approach as regenerative agriculture, including rotational grazing practices intended to rebuild soil and maintain forested areas. Grass-fed beef offered through the farm comes from nearby farms and is available in both grass-finished and grain-finished options. The farm also offers poultry processing classes to teach humane meat-bird processing.
