300-acre family farm raising grass-finished beef from heritage Pineywoods cattle in the Georgia Piedmont.
Grove Creek Farm is a 300-acre family operation in the Georgia Piedmont, managed by James and Daniella Adams. The farm was founded by Robert E. Rhoades in 1994, and the Adams family has been farming it since 1990, shifting its focus from row crops to land and animal stewardship. Grove Creek Farm raises a herd of heritage Pineywoods cattle crossed with Hereford and Angus, and sells grass-finished beef in whole and half shares. Each beef share comes from a single animal, with no mixing of cuts or ground beef. Beef is processed by reputable, family-owned facilities inspected by the USDA or the Georgia Department of Agriculture. The farm also maintains a registered Pineywoods breeding stock program. Grove Creek Farm operates as a 100% forage-based system: cattle are born, raised, and finished on the farm with no grain at any stage. The herd grazes over 120 acres of restored pasture planted with grasses, clovers, legumes, and native forages. A rotational grazing system gives the land rest between grazing periods. Cattle always have access to open pasture, fresh well water, and shade. For decades, the farm has rebuilt soil organic matter on land previously depleted by row-crop agriculture. Grove Creek Farm has partnered with the USDA's Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP), the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS), Georgia Soil and Water Conservation, and Partners for Fish and Wildlife on land improvement projects. The farm is a member of the Georgia Forage and Grassland Council, the Georgia Cattlemen's Association, and the Pineywoods Cattle Registry and Breeders Association, through which its Pineywoods animals are registered.
