Born & Raised

Born & Raised raises its cattle and lamb on open pastures from start to finish, feeding them only grass and forage with no grain, hormones, or antibiotics. The ranch is managed using a 365-day grazing program, drawing on the work of Alan Nation and Jim Gerrish, designed to mimic natural grazing patterns and maintain pasture vitality year-round. Beef is not selected for harvest until animals are 20 to 28 months old and meet a minimum finishing weight gain of 1.7 lbs per day, a standard the farm states its animals meet or exceed. Once harvested, beef is aged 14 to 21 days, then inspected, cut, and vacuum sealed. Cattle move directly from the farm to the processor to the consumer, with no sale barn or feedlot in between. If an animal requires antibiotics for illness, it is removed from the beef program. Chickens and pigs are pasture-raised with open space to forage, root, and graze freely.
