Sixth-generation cattle and honey farm raising raw local honey and grass-grazed cattle on the Blackland Prairie.
Blackland Farm & Cattle is a sixth-generation family farm in Falls and McLennan Counties, raising cattle and keeping honey bees across a mosaic of native Blackland Prairie land. The farm traces its roots to 1909, when Todd's great-grandparents FJ and Clara Neumann first purchased the land that remains its heart. Blackland produces raw, unfiltered honey harvested seasonally at the end of the summer honey flow, sold in 5oz, 12oz, and 24oz sizes. Honey is available at select local retailers across the greater Waco area, through on-farm pick-up by appointment, and via bulk and wholesale orders. Learn more on their About Page.
Blackland Farm & Cattle describes its approach as regenerative, with carbon-based practices centered on soil health. The farm uses intensive rotational grazing to move cattle in patterns that mirror how native ruminants once moved across the prairie, working with the natural evolution of the prairie ecosystem. Intentional brush management complements this grazing program. The farm's pastures are cultivated to grow a diverse suite of native flowers, grasses, and plant species that support its honey bee apiaries and local pollinators. It maintains wild spaces across its properties in Falls and McLennan Counties to foster native biodiversity and support the broader Blackland Prairie ecosystem.
