Family-run apiary producing raw, unfiltered honey from Ventura County sage and wildflower fields.
Bennett's Honey Farm is a family-owned apiary in Fillmore, CA, with roots going back about forty years to when founders Red and Ann Bennett kept their first bees in Ventura County. The business grew out of a backyard swarm and expanded to include the Topanga Quality Honey label. Current owners Chip and Taydee Vannoy purchased the farm in 2011 and have continued its traditions. The farm sells raw and unfiltered honey in multiple varietals, raw honeycomb, creamed honey, bee pollen, beeswax products, and honey-based skincare. A tasting room on-site welcomes visitors, and the farm is also accessible by scenic train ride on the historic Fillmore and Western Railway. Learn more on their About Page.
Bennett's Honey Farm keeps its honey raw and unfiltered, a process that takes longer but preserves the honey's natural components. Rather than mechanical filtering, the farm uses gravity straining so the honey retains what it describes as its naturally perfect components. Honey is gathered seasonally from Ventura County's sage and wildflower fields, and each varietal reflects the flavor profile of the regional flowers from which it came. The farm handles honey delicately, returning it to natural hive temperature before clarifying in order to preserve aroma, nutritional value, and flavor. The operation has run on 100% solar power since 2005 and describes its carbon footprint as close to zero. Staff includes multigenerational members of local families, some representing the third generation of working in the honey business.
