Third-generation family cattle farm selling pasture-raised beef and pork direct to customers.
Yonkipin Legacy Farms is a third-generation, family-operated cattle farm with roots going back to 1979, when Elvin and Linda Armer purchased the original Yonkipin Dairy just north of Green Forest, Arkansas. In 2020, two of their children, Marty Armer and Sheila Nance, took over to carry the legacy forward, expanding the herd and selling beef directly to customers. Every calf in the beef program is born and raised on the farm. The farm sells beef as whole and half animals through local processors, as pre-built bundles and a la carte cuts, and also offers pasture-raised pork in halves, wholes, and bundles. Whole and half orders are booked in advance and customers can customize their cutting order with the processor. Learn more on their About Page.
Yonkipin Legacy Farms raises a commercial herd that is primarily Angus, with Hereford influence in some animals and Angus bulls. Cattle are considered pasture-raised, with free-choice grass and hay available throughout their lives. For the final 120 or more days before processing, they are also finished on grain in open pasture to improve marbling and tenderness. The farm does not use steroids, hormones, or antibiotics in feed. All butcher calves are born and raised on-farm from the farm's own stock, and no animals are purchased from sale barns. Standard vaccinations for blackleg, respiratory pathogens, and tetanus are given at weaning. Penicillin may be administered if an animal shows signs of illness, with all withdrawal periods followed per manufacturer guidelines. Pork is pasture-raised and sold in similar formats to beef.
