Overview
Northern Illinois apiary offering raw honey, beeswax, propolis, bees, and beekeeping classes.
Willie's Honey Company is a small apiary serving the Lake/McHenry counties area of Northern Illinois with nearly two decades of experience. It produces raw wildflower honey, beeswax, and propolis, and also supplies bees to other keepers. Beyond hive products, the business offers bee removal, pollination services, tax assessments, consulting, and beekeeping classes with personal mentoring. All hive products are 100% natural, unpasteurized, and locally sourced. Willie's Honey Company is a member of the Illinois Queen Initiative (IQI), actively working to breed bees that thrive in Northern Illinois. Learn more on their About Page.
Willie's Honey Company avoids strong chemical treatments on its hives, instead selecting bees from winter-hardy and disease-resistant survivor stock. Many hives and hive components are built from reclaimed lumber, paint, and nails. All swarm and structure removals of honeybees are handled as live captures and relocated to the company's own apiaries, with feral bees contributing to its breeding program for locally adapted stock. The business states that its agricultural practices aim to leave the land and animals better than they started.
