Family-owned aquaponic farm growing Certified Naturally Grown produce year-round in a 6,000 sq ft greenhouse.
Tribe Country Farms is a family-owned aquaponics farm operating out of a 6,000 square foot greenhouse. The business is run by siblings-in-law Heather Montoya and Mitch Havemann, backed by four other family members. Heather holds a degree in Agriculture Business from CSU with a focus on aquaponics, while Mitch brings an electrical and mechanical background and built the farm's system. The system holds approximately 65,000 gallons of water and grows produce year-round. Tribe Country Farms offers curbside pickup orders placed through its website. Learn more on their About Page.
Tribe Country Farms uses an aquaponics system in which fish are raised in 600-gallon tanks. The nutrient-rich water from the fish waste is filtered and circulated to raft beds where plants grow with their roots submerged directly in the water. No pesticides or chemicals are introduced into the system; the only input is fish food. The closed-loop, recirculating design uses significantly less water than conventional farming. Produce is harvested to order. The farm holds Certified Naturally Grown certification for its aquaponics operation, certified since November 2019 and subject to ongoing inspections.
