The Urban Edge Farm is a 34-acre, family-owned organic farm operated by Bob and Barbara Cecchini and their family, who have farmed continuously in California since the 1930s under Cecchini & Cecchini, Inc. The farm includes 4 acres of certified organic vegetables, 3 acres of wine grapes, and 24 acres of orchards, much of which is open for U-Pick. It grows more than 50 varieties of specialty organic fruits, vegetables, and herbs and sells them through a year-round farm store, an online store, and CSA box subscriptions. The farm store also carries fresh bread, pickles, honey, jams, pies, and eggs.
The Urban Edge Farm has held full certified organic status since the summer of 2021. Beyond organic certification, the farm follows regenerative agriculture principles that include cover cropping, composting, integrated pest management (IPM), living-soil stewardship, hedgerow planting to support beneficial insects and wildlife, carbon sequestration practices, and zero-waste agriculture (keeping all farm waste out of landfills). The farm conducts annual soil tests to guide cover-crop selection, and uses compost extensively to build soil fertility and water retention. Hedgerows planted along the farm's borders use California native species to create habitat corridors.
