A private regenerative Slow Food Farm raising grass-finished beef, raw-milk dairy, lamb, pork, poultry, and eggs.
The Golden Hoof is a private, regenerative Slow Food Farm established in 2012 and headquartered in Boulder, Colorado. The Boulder operation spans roughly 200 acres, and the farm also runs a satellite beef cattle ranch of approximately 1,900 acres in the San Luis Valley. The farm produces grass-finished beef, pork, lamb, poultry, eggs, dairy, and fruit, all marketed exclusively through an on-farm, direct-to-consumer private food club with an on-farm store. The herd includes purebred Clun Forest Sheep, and the farm milks a small group of grass-fed raw-milk dairy cows. Beyond food production, The Golden Hoof provides prescriptive grazing services for wetland restoration and fire mitigation in the urban-wildland interface.
The Golden Hoof manages its land holistically, drawing on methods inspired by nature's self-sustaining ecosystems with a primary focus on soil and grass farming. Cattle are moved across pasture on a daily rotation. Products are raised on locally sourced grass, sprouts, and hay. The farm operates a deep bedding poultry system that upcycles nutrients from the surrounding community's waste stream. The operation also incorporates prescriptive grazing as a land stewardship tool for wetland restoration and fire mitigation.
