Tara Firma Farms is a 238-acre regenerative farm in Petaluma, California, founded in 2009 and purchased by the Squire-Eldridge family in 2016. The farm raises grass-fed and grass-finished beef, pastured pork, and pastured chicken, and keeps a flock of heritage-breed hens for egg production. It also offers organic products including fruit, vegetables, and cheese through a network of family farms in Sonoma and Marin counties. The farm formerly operated a home-delivery CSA program, which closed in July 2026. Tara Firma Farms follows holistic planned grazing practices, modeled on guidance from the Marin Carbon Project, with the goal of mimicking natural systems to remove carbon from the atmosphere. Black and Red Angus cattle are raised year-round on pasture using low-stress stockmanship and management-intensive grazing, with no grain or pharmaceuticals; organic alfalfa is the only supplemental feed. Heritage-breed pigs, including Gloucester Old Spots, Red Wattle, Tamworth, Hampshire, and Berkshire, are rotated through pasture paddocks seasonally. Pasture-raised chickens are moved to fresh pasture in mobile houses. Heritage-breed laying hens receive supplemental non-GMO, soy-free, organic feed, and the farm's eggs are CCOF certified organic. The farm also uses closed-loop composting systems incorporating organic food waste and locally sourced compost.
