Goat dairy farm producing award-winning goat cheese and goat-milk truffles, with on-farm tours and a shop and café.
Surfing Goat Dairy has operated on the slopes of Haleakala since 2002 and is Maui's largest commercial dairy, home to a herd of more than 120 milking goats. The farm produces award-winning gourmet goat cheeses in fresh and aged varieties, plus goat-milk chocolate truffles in flavors such as Lilikoi, Kona Coffee, Toasted Coconut, and Cinnamon Chipotle. Its cheeses have appeared on local restaurant menus and at the White House for President Obama's inauguration dinner. Visitors can join several tour formats, including a Daily Casual Tour, an Evening Chore and Milking Tour, a Golden Girl Experience with senior goats, and a Baby Goat Interaction Experience. An on-site shop and café carries the farm's products, and goat milk bath products are also available. The dairy also offers goat grazing services to outside properties. Surfing Goat Dairy raises its herd of goats on the slopes of Haleakala using what it describes as sustainable farming practices. The farm attributes the distinctive flavor of its cheeses to a combination of uncommon goat breeds and the exceptional land on which they graze. Goats are milked on a regular schedule, and all cheese and truffles are produced on the farm. The truffle line is handcrafted in the farm's own kitchen by an in-house team.
