Pasture-raised pork and chicken from a family farm in Innisfil, sold at farmers' markets and online.
Stone Horse Farm is a family farm in Innisfil, Ontario, raising pasture-raised meats with no antibiotics, no growth hormones, no GMO grain, and no confinement housing. The farm produces pork and seasonal chicken, selling through local farmers' markets in Barrie, Innisfil, and Thornton, as well as through an online ordering platform. Pigs are bred, born, and raised on the farm from start to finish, giving the farm direct control over their care and diet. Chickens are raised seasonally, available from June through October. Visitors are welcome by appointment to see the animals on pasture.
Stone Horse Farm raises heritage-breed pigs, starting with Berkshire stock and adding Large Black and Hereford breeds. Pigs are fed a diet of pasture grass, locally grown barley, and seasonal produce such as pumpkins, carrots, and apples; hay from a neighboring farm is used in winter. The grain used is non-GMO, and the farm states it does not use grains modified to tolerate glyphosate. Chickens are raised in the barn until feathered, then moved to movable pasture pens that are shifted to fresh grass each morning. Animals are transported to small, family-run processors in a ventilated trailer and are never crowded.
