Non-profit vegetable CSA farm offering seasonal shares, pick-your-own crops, and a seedling sale.
Stearns Farm CSA is a non-profit farm in Framingham, Massachusetts that has operated as a CSA since 1990, with roots going back to 1954. It is governed by a sharer-elected Board of Directors and sits on land held by Sudbury Valley Trustees. The farm offers several share options, including a Full Season Share, Back to School Share, Flower and Herb Share, Winter Share, Subsidized Share, and a Work-For-Share program. Crops span a wide range of vegetables, fruits, flowers, and herbs, with pick-your-own access to blueberries, raspberries, flowers, and herbs. An annual seedling sale is also part of the farm's offerings. Learn more on their About Page.
Stearns Farm CSA uses no chemical fertilizers or pesticides, describing its farming practices as entirely natural and sustainable. The farm holds no USDA Organic certification, which it notes is cost-prohibitive, but states its methods have remained in line with organic principles throughout its history. Sharers participate directly in farm life: most share types include a required work-hours contribution, and a Work-For-Share program allows members to offset share costs through labor. A Subsidized Share option is available to extend access to those who need it.
