Soul Food Farm is a family-owned farm on 55 acres in Solano County, California, purchased in the late 1990s. In its first decade, the farm built a pastured poultry operation, selling eggs and chicken to Bay Area restaurants and shops. In 2012, the owners redesigned the farm toward greater diversity in plants, animals, and philosophy. Today, Soul Food Farm produces olive oil, farm-fresh eggs, cut flowers, specialty vegetables, lavender, and sheep yarn, and operates Soul Food Farm Reserve, a farmstand open seasonally. The farmstand offers a private membership program and hosts workshops, lectures, and special events. The farm also runs a CSA flower share program and a u-pick flower experience each growing season. Soul Food Farm has been working to integrate regenerative agriculture practices, with a focus on increasing soil life and habitat for pollinators. The farm maintains extensive lavender fields in partnership with Morningsun Herb Farm under the name Hierbas y Flores. The farmstand sources from local and regional small family farms, prioritizing food described by the farm as grown with responsible practices that consider the health of soil, plants, animals, labor, and the consumer. The farm aims to offer seasonal, locally grown food and maintains transparency about the provenance of products sold through the farmstand. Local ranchers are invited as farm guests to sell meat directly to members on announced dates.
