Family-run Niagara farm raising naturally raised, pasture-fed beef cattle.
Rosedene Acres is a family-run farm in the Niagara Region operated by Alison and Larry Moore. The Moore family has farmed in the Niagara region for over 200 years. Larry and Alison both hold degrees in Agricultural Science and Health Promotion, and together they work to improve animal husbandry processes on the farm. The farm raises beef cattle on natural pastures of hay grasses and legumes, and sells beef through custom freezer orders and sample boxes. Order options include mixed quarters, sides, full animals, and sample boxes. Learn more on their About Page.
Rosedene Acres raises its beef cattle at a natural pace, allowing them to forage on pastures of grasses and legumes. The cattle are free from additives, enhancers, and drugs, and are not fattened on grain, corn, soy, or other weight-gain supplements. Feed consists only of chemical-free grass and hay, supplemented with fresh water. The farm uses a dry-aging process, hanging sides for 14 to 21 days before cutting, allowing natural enzymes to tenderize the meat. Animals selected for processing are under 30 months of age. The farm also states that its grazing practices work to enhance soil and plant quality, with manure used as natural fertilizer.
