Pasture-raised chicken, lamb, turkey, and pork from an Alaskan family farm.
Poiema Farm is a family-run, pasture-based meat farm in Sterling, Alaska, founded in 2019. What started as a hobby homestead with a goal of feeding the family off their own land grew into a full market farm. The farm raises pasture-raised chicken, lamb, turkey, and pork, and sells its products directly to customers. Poiema Farm is committed to farming practices that support the fertility of the land, produce food that is delicious and nourishing, and build a vibrant local food economy. Customers can shop online through the farm's ordering page. Learn more on their About Page.
Poiema Farm raises all of its animals on pasture. Chickens are moved daily and graze on grass while foraging for grubs. Turkeys are raised on pasture and can source up to 30% of their feed requirements directly from it. The farm raises St. Croix sheep, a smaller-bodied, slower-growing heritage breed known for lean and mild-flavored meat. The farm's stated focus is on farming methods that increase land fertility and produce food that is healing to the body.
