Wild-harvested Texas native pecans, sprouted nuts, and nut butters from a small family farm.
pecanshop is a family-run operation in McGregor, Texas, selling wild-harvested Texas native pecans alongside organic walnuts, almonds, pumpkin and sunflower seeds, and sprouted nut butters. The family are the only workers in the shop, shelling and processing the nuts themselves. Native Texas pecans form the heart of the lineup, sold as raw halves or in three sprouted recipes: Sea Salt Crispy, Apple Pie (made with local wildflower honey, apples, and cinnamon), and Mesquite-Smoked. The activated pecans have been named to the Weston Price Foundation "Best Food" list and earned a staff top-10 pick at Wheatsville Co-op in Austin. pecanshop ships only pecan halves, not pieces, and fulfills orders direct from the farm. Texas native pecans at pecanshop are wild-harvested from trees that grow naturally along rivers and creek beds rather than in planted orchards. The trees require no irrigation and are grown without sprays or synthetic chemicals, following what the business describes as an organic practice. The "activated" or sprouted process involves soaking nuts in filtered water and Redmond sea salt, then drying them at low temperatures to preserve nutrients. Flavored recipes use only local wildflower honey, local mesquite, and locally shelled native pecans. The business also describes its broader farm as a transition from a formerly mono-crop chemical operation toward a sustainable, natural, and diverse farm.
