Regenerative farm offering seasonal produce, fresh-cut flowers, honey, and farm classes south of Dallas.
Mars Hill Farm is a small regenerative farm in Ferris, Texas, founded on a vision of land stewardship and community. The farm was imagined in 2015 and broke ground in 2017, initially to provide living-wage employment for UN refugees resettling in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Today it has expanded its mission to welcome all who are interested in walking a new path. Mars Hill Farm grows seasonally changing produce and flowers, raises animals for food products, and keeps bees for honey. Products are available at farmers markets around Dallas, through home-delivery subscriptions, and via an online shop. The farm also operates as an event venue and offers on-site and off-site educational classes.
Mars Hill Farm practices regenerative, holistic agriculture. Its approach to regenerative farming focuses on techniques that promote the flourishing and expansion of life at every scale, from soil microbes to the broader ecosystem. The holistic component means considering how farming decisions affect the land, animals, and people together, with each element co-laboring to provide for the others. The farm tests new plant and animal varieties suited to its Ferris, Texas microclimate and works to produce seasonally, pursuing what it describes as sustainable, wholistic farming that is beneficial for the land, animals, and people involved.
