Grass-fed, grass-finished Wagyu X Angus beef from a working California ranch, sold by the whole, half, quarter, or box.
Lost Coast Ranch has been raising livestock on the banks of the Mattole River in Humboldt County since 1969. The ranch specializes in grass-fed and grass-finished Wagyu X Angus beef, which it sells as whole, half, quarter, or 50-pound boxed selections of steaks, roasts, and ground beef. Goats and sheep are also part of the operation, watched over by working livestock guardian dogs. Year-round coastal green pastures keep the herd low-stress and on varied forage. Buyers can reserve beef directly by contacting the ranch, with pickup available in the region or shipping by air.
Lost Coast Ranch grazes its Wagyu X Angus cattle on coastal rangeland that is rested for at least six months between grazing periods, with each rest cycle incorporating a rainy season. The ranch has reseeded its rangeland with deep-rooted native and non-native perennial grasses and clovers to support soil health and diverse forage. Periodic broadcast burns are carried out as conditions allow. Animal density is kept low across the ranch's extensive acreage, and cow families are managed together to minimize stress. The ranch uses rotational grazing, moving the herd on horseback rather than by trailer. Wagyu bulls have been used in the breeding program to produce beef noted for its marbling, tenderness, and fat profile, as verified by analysis through the BioNutrient Institute.
