Biodynamic farm and nonprofit growing organic produce and farm products in Waihe'e, Maui
Lokelani 'Ohana is a nonprofit biodynamic farm on a 1.29-acre property in the village of Waihe'e, Maui, operating on land dedicated to agriculture since the 1800s with kuleana water flowing from the Waihe'e River. The farm runs socially therapeutic programs, including organic gardening, Saori weaving, and creative arts, for adults with developmental disabilities. Its work is inspired by the Camphill movement and grounded in the principles of anthroposophy. Lokelani 'Ohana sells farm-enhanced products including chocolate-covered dehydrated bananas, turmeric marinated in honey, and banana bread. Handmade Saori weavings, pillows, wall hangings, and Job's Tears jewelry made by farm volunteers are also available. The farm offers scheduled tours of the property. Learn more on their About Page.
Lokelani 'Ohana farms using biodynamic methods based on the indications of Rudolf Steiner. The farm grows produce through its organic gardening program and also cultivates biodynamic cotton, which is ginned and used to stuff pillows and for weaving. Kuleana water sourced from the Waihe'e River irrigates the land through a series of channels. The farm has partnered with WWOOF Hawaii and welcomes co-workers with biodynamic farming experience from the Camphill communities.
