Certified grass-finished Akaushi and British White beef from a working Texas ranch.
Lazy A Ranch, established in 2008 in Bellville, Texas, raises two breeds of cattle: Akaushi (Red Wagyu) and British White. The ranch was founded by Margot and Bill Heard, whose family roots in Texas ranching trace back to the 1950s. It sells grass-finished beef in individual cuts and bulk packages (eighth, quarter, half, and whole), as well as pasture-raised chicken eggs. Beef is dry-aged 14 to 21 days, then shrink-wrapped and fast frozen. Customers can pick up orders at the ranch or at a Houston location. The ranch also welcomes groups and school visits for hands-on outdoor activities. Learn more on their About Page.
Lazy A Ranch is certified by the American Grassfed Association and holds Animal Welfare certification from A Greener World, with standards verified by annual independent audits. The ranch follows Holistic Management International principles, including rotational grazing. No pesticides, herbicides, routine antibiotics, or growth hormones are used. Most cattle are born on the ranch, live on grassy pasture for their entire lives, and are handled and moved gently. In addition to pasture grass, cattle receive baled hay and alfalfa, along with a free-choice supplement mix of macro and trace minerals, vitamins, kelp, probiotics, enzymes, and diatomaceous earth (used as a natural wormer). Cattle are individually selected at full growth and processed at an Animal Welfare Approved facility.
