Raw wildflower and sourwood honey from a father-daughter apiary near Athens, Georgia
Katie Bee Honey Co. is a father-daughter apiary run by Chad and Katie Mote. Katie is a middle school student, and her father is a former high school science teacher and administrator. The operation maintains around ten bee yards spread across Clarke, Oglethorpe, Jackson, Banks, White, and Rabun counties, including sites near Athens and in the north Georgia mountains. Katie Bee Honey offers wildflower and sourwood varieties in 1 lb., 1.5 lb., and 2 lb. jars. Honey is sold at the Athens Farmers Market. Learn more on their About Page.
Katie Bee Honey's honey is raw and never pasteurized or micro-filtered, sold in what the business describes as its purest form. Wildflower honey is made from local nectar sources, and its taste and color vary depending on harvest timing, which floral sources were blooming, and their abundance in a given area.
